The #BringBackOurGirls(BBOG) group has expressed disappointment over the statement made by the National Security Adviser to the President, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd) that the Chibok girls abducted over 280 days ago by the Boko Haram sect were yet to be located.
One of the group’s members, Dr Emmam Shehu, while speaking during their daily sit-outs, said it was both unfortunate and shameful that after several months, the government and the military still do not know the whereabouts of the girls.
She added that the 219 Chibok girls represented everything that had gone wrong in the country, adding that the failure of the government to bring the girls back shows insensitivity.
LEADERSHIP recalls that the NSA, at the Chatham House Africa Programme in London, yesterday, said that the girls had not been found but gave the assurance that they would soon be located with the help of the international community, particularly the French, British, Americans and Chadians.
He had also debunked allegations that soldiers of the Nigerian Army were under-equipped.
Mr Dasuki had maintained the official Baga attack casualty figure released by the Nigerian Army, insisting that only an independent verified copy of the satellite images can prove otherwise.
Members of the Boko Haram sect had attacked the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) base in Baga, Borno State on Saturday, January 5, killing hundeds and destroying most houses in the town. Defence spokesperson, Major-General Chris Olukolade, had peg the casualty figure around 150 people, comprising mainly of members of the sect, but an independent report put the number at 2,000.
