APC Suffers Mass Defection In Yobe

4:22 AM

Alhaji Sani Inuwa-Nguru, the former Interim Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State, and three members of the state House of Assembly have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
NAN reports that no fewer than 10,000 members of the APC also followed suit on Sunday.
The state’s Caretaker Committee Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Sule Doguwa, made this known while addressing supporters in Damaturu.

Doguwa said the three lawmakers are: Alhaji Nasiru Yusuf, representing Damaturu Local Government Area; Alhaji Kaigama Umar, representing Jakusko Local Government Area and Alhaji Kachalla Mai-Hassan, representing Gujba Local Government Area.
According to him, the massive support that the PDP is enjoying in the state will win the party all positions in the February general elections.
The Caretaker Committee Chairman urged the party’s supporters to collect their Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) to enable them to vote in the elections.
Meanwhile, Inuwa-Nguru, who spoke on behalf of the defectors, said they took the decision in the best interests of the people of the state.
He said the people of the state were clamoring for better leadership that would enhance their standard of living.
“I am therefore, happy to formally announce our decision to dump the APC and join the PDP together with our over 10,000 supporters,” Inuwa-Nguru said.
Speaking earlier, Alhaji Adamu Waziri, the state governorship candidate of the PDP, acknowledged that the party has become a strong, united entity which led high-profile members of the APC in the state to join it.
The governorship candidate, who is a former Minister of Police Affairs, promised to lead Yobe to become one of the best 12 states in the country if elected.
Meanwhile, Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has said the ruling PDP has failed to provide basic amenities and fight insurgency.
